Choosing your wedding date is one of the first decisions you’ll make when planning your wedding, and it’s also one of the most important. Your wedding date can affect everything from your event theme, to your guest list and your budget. Before you start the planning process, here are three important things to consider when selecting a wedding date.

Season

The time of year can have a big impact on the feel of your wedding. Have you always dreamed of a beach ceremony or garden reception? Or do you have visions of walking down the aisle like a snow fairy at a winter wedding? It’s also helpful to consider how the seasons may affect your guest list. Does most of your family head out of town in December? If so, perhaps consider a Spring or Autumn ceremony when your guests are more likely to be available.

Significance

Is there a special date that is meaningful to you and your fiancé? Perhaps you’d like to get married on the same day you met or had your first date. Some cultures have dates which are considered good luck for weddings and you may want to incorporate some of that tradition into your planning.
